Firmenich moved from a suburban non-compliant retail space to a high-rise located in the city center of Battle Creek, which is a Tax Free Renaissance Zone.  The historic twenty-one story Battle Creek Tower offers Class A office space. This presented a challenge as there is only a 10’-0” high clearance between floors, which is a challenge for labs which ideally require 15 to 16-feet for services and supporting HVAC ductwork for the high air-change rates required by code.

iDesign adapted the layout to the structure so that the large ductwork could run between the even lower structural beams. For the new suite, iDesign created a U.S. FDA compliant laboratory inclusive of technical R&D spaces, offices, conferencing facility and a “high visibility” tasting room at the main entry for special events.
